PMB Summer Student Positions - Coordinators, Instructors, Umpires

Paradise Minor Baseball partners with the Town of Paradise to hire staff for our summer programs. We are seeking coordinators as well as instructors/umpires. Note:

  • There are both Full Time and Part Time positions available
  • All applications to work with PMB must be made through the Town of Paradise
  • If you are interested in Umpiring on a part time basis, you should apply for the Baseball Instructor position.
  • The Level I and Level II umpire clinics currently being offered through BNL would be considered assets for these positions

Summer Student Employment 2021

The Town of Paradise offers a wide range of instructional programs and activities for children, youth, and adults throughout the Town during the summer months. If you are a motivated, enthusiastic, energetic individual who would like the challenge of working in a recreation environment, apply for one of the exciting and challenging Summer Student positions.

Summer Student positions support Paradise Minor Baseball programs. Available positions include:

  • Baseball Coordinator (Full Time)
  • Baseball Instructor / Umpire (Full Time & Part Time)

Interviews

  • We thank all those interested in working with the Town of Paradise. Only those selected for interviews will be contacted.
  • Mandatory training sessions will be held prior to the start of employment for all Summer Student positions.
  • Interested individuals may apply for up to TWO summer student positions only.

Baseball Coordinator

To assist with the coordination, planning, and delivery of the Summer Baseball Program offered by the Town of Paradise. This includes supervision of baseball instructors, teaching baseball skills to youth, and coordination of tournaments and special events.

Qualifications:

  • Clear Certificate of Conduct / Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Valid Standard First Aid Certificate (Must be obtained prior to the start employment)
  • High Five® Principles of Healthy Child Development
  • Class 5 driver’s licence with access to a vehicle
  • Experience in developing and implementing seasonal and lesson plans, including developing learning progressions for skill development
  • Experience instructing baseball to youth ages 4 to 18 years of age would be an asset
  • Excellent organizational and written and oral communication skills
  • Successful completion of Baseball Canada NCCP coaching clinics would be an asset.
  • Successful completion of level I, II, or III Umpire Clinics would be an asset
  • Familiarity with Baseball Canada Rally Cap or completion of Baseball Canada NCCP Rally Cap Coach clinic would be an asset.
  • Must be enrolled in a post-secondary program or high school

Period of employment: June 2021– September 2021

Rate of Pay: $14/hour (40 hours/week) (flex time will be required)

Baseball Instructor / Umpire

To assist with the daily delivery of the Summer Baseball Program offered by the Town by teaching baseball skills to youth, supervising field activities, and assisting with the running of tournaments and special events.

Qualifications:

  • Clear Certificate of Conduct / Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Valid Standard First Aid Certificate
  • High Five® Principles of Healthy Child Development
  • Experience developing and implementing lesson plans including progressions for skill development
  • Experience instructing baseball to youth ages 4 to 18 years of age would be an asset
  • Experience working in customer service setting would be an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Successful completion of any Baseball Canada NCCP coaching clinics would be an asset.
  • Successful completion of level I, II, or III Umpire Clinics would be an asset
  • Familiarity with Baseball Canada Rally Cap or completion of Baseball Canada NCCP Rally Cap Coach clinic would be an asset.
  • Must be enrolled in a post-secondary program or high school

Period of employment: June 2021 – September 2021

Rate of Pay: $12.50/hour

  • Full Time and Part Time Positions
  • Full Time 30 - 40 hours/week (flex time will be required)
  • Part Time (flex time will be required)
